client comments
Our Mission at 20 Minutes To Fitness is simple: To Improve the Quality of Life of our Clients.
Before our Clients start their 20 Minutes To Fitness program, they participate in a thorough Orientation Session which, among other things, analyzes their health and fitness goals. Once those goals are set, it is our job to track and measure the Client’s progress towards those goals. We listen to our Clients and solicit their input. We are proud of their progress and, as you will see below in the “Client Comments”, so are they.
While we measure progress towards all of a Client’s goals, we pay special attention to the increase in a Client’s strength. Research continually shows us that increasing and maintaining strong, lean muscles is one of the essential keys to staying healthy and slowing down, even preventing, the frustrating effects of the aging process. Again, we are excited about the results our Clients are achieving and are proud to share some of their Strength Progress Charts.

I am a practicing physician (OBGYN) here in Lakewood Ranch and know the importance of staying healthy. But that’s not the only reason I am a client at 20 Minutes To Fitness. I am also a golfer. The specialized strength training at 20 Minutes To Fitness has definitely improved my game. Not only has my distance increased, but I am now more flexible and have far more endurance than ever before. That’s not all. Before 20 Minutes To Fitness, I always suffered from back pain after my golf game. Now, there is none! Dr. Jorge Alvarez, 42 OBGYN |

I’ve been a chiropractor for 17 years. I’m on my feet all day - lifting, turning and adjusting people of all shapes and sizes. If I don’t keep my muscles strong, I can’t do my work. 20 Minutes To Fitness has been the answer to my prayers. It not only gives me the strength and stamina to do my job, it saves me valuable time. And knowing what it does for me and seeing what my patients need, it is at the top on my recommendation list. Dr. Shelly Kennedy, 45 Chiropractic Physician |

I have to admit that I came for my first consultation with 20 Minutes To Fitness with some serious skepticism. Having assumed that fitness required massive time commitments (which I didn’t have), my body and my health slipped into a bad situation for someone entering their mid 40's. At 210 pounds, a large percentage of that being fat, I was beginning to display signs of diabetes. Now at 6 months, along with some recommended nutrition modifications, I have lost 25 pounds with substantial gains in muscle mass and a significant body transformation. I truly feel that you have given me the tools to literally save my life. My flexibility and energy have increased and my blood sugar is now under control - with no medications! I see the strength increase in many unexpected ways: getting up off the floor, climbing stairs, playing with my daughters and even just bending over. And, my wife tells me it is like hugging a different man. She’s right, I am a different man thanks to 20 minutes To Fitness. Chris Jones, 44 Trust Consultant |

I am a believer in 20 Minutes To Fitness! My past experience at exercising was going to the gym three days a week for 2 hours each day. The gym was crowded, noisy with chatter, music pounding too loudly, and TV's flashing. It was not a pleasant experience at all. During this time, I experienced no results in spite of my hard work. After the second injury, I decided that there must be a better way. I had read about 20 Minutes several times but did not take the plunge until a trip overseas emphatically showed me that I had lost a great deal of muscle and strength. So I made the call! I am so happy with my results which happened so quickly! My posture is better, my body more defined and I actually can SEE my muscles....... This is a miracle! I feel better and look better in my clothes. I hope that this exercise program plus my healthy diet will help delay aging and age related health problems. Glenda Edwards, 72 Retired |

For the past year I have been struggling for a way to bring down my high blood pressure. Short of medication (my high blood pressure is hereditary) I read that 20 Minutes To Fitness could help. After just 4 sessions, my blood pressure has been normal. And I attribute that to my weekly workout at 20 Minutes To Fitness®! David Stein, 47 Advertising Executive |

I feel stronger and younger than I have in years and I’d like to tell you why. In March 2005 I started my training sessions at 20 Minutes To Fitness. It’s a small studio in Lakewood Ranch which offers a highly-effective and time-saving strength training protocol. It’s not just another gym where you have to wait on each piece of equipment and be bothered with annual contracts or memberships. Their certified trainers and specialized equipment have not only improved my overall strength, but have specifically focused on those factors that directly affect my playing polo: AND it only takes me 20 minutes a week for my workout! Hard to believe - but trust me, it’s true. I strongly recommend that you give 20 Minutes To Fitness a try. They offer a complimentary orientation and workout session - so there’s nothing to lose. Tim Mattox, 49 Polo Instructor |

I’m a golfer! Since I started strength training at 20 Minutes To Fitness, I have reduced my handicap by 5 strokes and I now break 80 more often than I have in the last five years. I’m stronger, have more stamina, and have improved all areas of my game, even my chipping and putting. I recommend 20 Minutes To Fitness to anyone who plays golf or for that matter, anyone who is interested in improving their performance in any sport. Jim Heotis, 67 |

I began my training after reading an article in one of the LWR local healthcare publications. The article featured a woman of about my age, weight and height who had achieved excellent results as a benefit of attending 20 minutes to fitness. The article stated that the first session was free of charge, and I decided that it would be worth a try, with nothing to lose but some of my lunch hour. I made an appointment to go over to the facility and was oriented by Virginia Phillips. Still somewhat skeptical, I agreed to try an actual workout. I was dressed in my business clothes, and was amazed that I was able to complete the routine in 20 minutes without ever breaking a sweat. Virginia explained that regardless of how many sessions I signed up for, my money was totally refundable if I was not satisfied with the results. I opted to try a "six pack", and booked my six appointments for lunch hour for the next 6 Wednesdays. By the second workout, I was convinced that I had finally found an exercise routine that fit into my lifestyle. I found that I had NO excuses for not going...I did not have to change into gym clothes, I did not have to drive far, I did not have to go before or after a long work day, and I even had half of my lunch hour left after exercising. I had spent so much money on gym memberships over the last 30 years that were wasted because of my constant "excuses". While this service was more expensive on a "per session" basis than the other gyms, I did not waste a penny. I have been attending for 20 weeks now, and have never missed a session. I look forward to my workouts, under the guidance of a skilled and encouraging personal trainer (a service I thought I could never afford!). My health has improved, my posture is straighter, my muscles feel strong and my "jiggles" have tightened up. I no longer need to go home during lunch hour to take a quick power nap - I have plenty of energy to last me through the day. When I see my reflection in the mirror, I see toned muscles gently peeking under my skin. I love the way I look and the way I feel. When I find the slight ache a day or two after my workouts, I am pleased to feel that this is my body strengthening itself. Yesterday, I signed up for another "12 pack". As I told my husband, I have finally found the exercise program that will last me the rest of my life. Thank you, 20 Minutes To Fitness! Ivy Ruark, 55 Senior Education Coordinator |

"Osteoporosis - that’s why I came to 20 Minutes To Fitness®. While I really do like that I can get my workout done in just 20 minutes a week, I’m there to keep my bones from breaking. In 1995, I participated in a research project which proved that the resistance training offered by 20 Minutes To Fitness® builds bone tissue and improves bone density. I was 45 then but my bone density was that of a 65 year old. So, I made a committed to resistance strength training and am now a loyal Client of 20 Minutes To Fitness®. My most recent bone screen showed that I had the bone density of a 40 year old, and I’m 56 now. It’s great to be young again!" Grace Edwards, 56 Commercial Developer |

20 Minutes To Fitness has been an incredible asset to my fitness routine. Having been a competitive swimmer as a youth, and an avid fitness participant throughout my adult life I was curious about the benefits of the slow cadence routine. After 3 workouts I was amazed. As I continued my workout’s the strength and flexibility I was gaining was incredible. The trainers are very knowledgeable and always able to answer my many questions from nutrition, to muscle physiology. I’m certainly going to continue this great form of strength training and encourage my patients, family and friends to do the same. I would like to share my personal 20 Minutes To Fitness success story. When I started coming in March 2008, I was not only out of shape, but I had a severe left shoulder injury. In April 2007 I had fallen off a ladder, dislocating my left shoulder and breaking my collarbone. I had very limited mobility in my left arm. I could not raise my arm to even shoulder height. I could not freely turn to the left. This may not seem like much to you, but imagine having only normal use of your right arm as well as having a left arm that was stiff and in pain most of the time. I was using a tens unit to help manage the pain. I did not have the opportunity to have physical therapy on my left arm and shoulder, so by the time I came to 20 Minutes To Fitness in March of 2008. I was resigned to living with the limited mobility and pain. Boy was I in for a surprise! With each weekly visit, I had improvement on my left side, and finally after my 5th visit I actually regained use of my left arm! I have my arm back! I can raise my arm to any level, high to low! I can point to items! I can turn to the left freely! I am so grateful to my trainer, Jason. He has been the most professional and knowledgeable trainer I could have hoped for. He was always aware of my injury. The total workout was always done with my injury in mind. After 6 weeks not only do I have my arm back, I have gone from a size 10 to a size 8. Sincerely, Patty Crothers, 50 Dispatch Associate |

My husband, Kurt, and I where settling into middle age. We both wanted to stay healthy and stay fit. But no matter how much we worked out we both still suffered with sore backs, low stamina, and general aches and pains. But that all ended when Kurt found 20 Minutes To Fitness and started raving about something called "slow cadence strength training". I thought, sure this really works - all these benefits that Kurt was talking about with only one 20 minute work out a week. I don’t think so! Then, after a few months, I noticed a marked improvement in his overall fitness. So, I decided to give it a try. Now, we are both hooked. There is no question about it - there has been great improvement in both our fitness levels. Kurt and I have experienced increased energy levels and no more back pain! I have even noticed that my aerobic training classes have been easier. Kurt is especially exited. His golf game has improved with what he describes as "incredible drives". 20 Minutes To Fitness has strengthened our overall fitness levels, increased our muscle strength, and improved our general well being. We have been loyal Clients of 20 Minutes To Fitness for over two years and would not dream of stopping. Kurt & Kristi Harriman Self Employed/Financial Officer |

"What a difference this work-out has made in my life! Within the first six weeks I immediately noticed an increase in muscle mass and strength; being strong makes it easier for me to do a better job at my work and be able to do the physical activities I like to do on weekends. Yes, I’m a confessed "weekend warrior" but now I’m ready for it!" Carola Fleener, MD, 57 Pediatrician |

After 2 sessions I noticed improved posture, the most positive gain for me has been the relief from lower back pain. My overall feeling of improved strength has made me feel I am doing something that improves the quality of my life and my ability to participate more fully in everything. Lorena Risch, 63 |

20 Minutes To Fitness... Where shall I begin? I was in the market for a "long-term" plan to lose weight, get healthy, and transform my body for good!! I love to read and knew that strength training was the answer to achieve my beautiful & healthy new body. My husband and I decided to make this venture a family affair so we signed up and worked out together. My nine year old son accompanies us and spends 20 minutes reading. Meanwhile, my husband and I are setting a healthy example for our son. Yes it was tough. In fact, it hurt so good. But amazingly, my body began transforming. I tell everyone that will listen that this type of strength training is natures plastic surgery. The best part of the program is that you only invest 20 minutes once a week. I'm all about time management. I did the math. How could I not justify 20 minutes a week when you consider that there are: 1,440 minutes day and nearly 10,080 minutes in a week. Yes. I can invest 20 minutes out of 10 thousand minutes a week for my health. I find it so invigorating that the trainers take the guess work out of the equation. AI and Virginia have such a talented and motivating staff. Although, I want to curse them while I'm working out. That's alright. They make the experience fun. Constantly reminding you to breathe - oops I forgot to do that! Did I mention that the place is c1eanl cold love the 60 plus degrees, and convenient. I have visited gyms in the past but often lost my momentum a couple of months in. I had to be honest with myself. I would totally drive past that gym and hurry about my busy day. We all have them! Did I tell you that I'm totally addicted to this program. I make better eating choices on a day-to-day because I work so hard and the results are so evident. My son hugs me and tells me that I am really skinny. Kids are brutally honest thank goodness! I have yielded unbelievable results after 5 months. I've ditched the scale because muscle weighs more than fat. I'm loving my new 35Ib weight loss. I've gone from a tight size 14 to a tight size 8. I am confident that I will reach my goal and fit into a size 6 by 2008. This is just the icing on the cake. In fact I was suffering from psoriasis on my hands and ankles. I was taking topical steroids and still received no relief. After just 3 weeks of strength training my psoriasis was gone. Also, I wasn't experiencing the tingling sensation in my feet when I walked for long periods of time. I have more energy and sleep like a baby. I am more conditioned. I am able to run for the first time ever. The health benefits go on and on. I always tell people that either they will make a small financial investment in their health now or they will suffer the consequences in hospital bills or doctors bills due to poor health later. I know this because I'm a health care professional as well as a Pharmaceutical Representative. Interestingly, I promote and educate on hypertension medication. So I know what the statistics really look like. High blood pressure = Heart Attack, Stroke, Hospitalizations or worse Death! Did I mention $$$ because you will pay later and I am confident that 20 Minutes To Fitness is an investment in my health future. This is truly the best investment I’ve ever made for my self. I’m not wealthy by any means. But I know a good deal when I see one. I've learned to make concessions in my life to justify the investment I’m making on a weekly basis to get healthy. For all of the fence sitters out there. This is absolutely the best body transforming program available. Get healthy now. 20 Minutes To Fitness is a small investment that pays huge dividends. Have you got 20 minutes to spare? Anastasia Jacobs, 34 Pharmaceutical Representative |

The concept of a 20 minute workout once a week was very appealing to me. I went for my complimentary orientation to find out more. I love the personal attention and knowledge I received from the 20 Minutes To Fitness team. Four months later I am still there, which is a great testimonial in itself. Being advised and encouraged every step of the way by a personal fitness coach means that I get so much more out of just 20 minutes. The professional approach provided by the 20 Minutes To Fitness team is such that I would have no problem in referring this service at every opportunity. Anita Charles, 41 Web Designer |

Dear 20 Minutes To Fitness, Last spring, my friend Kathy came across an article about a slow cadence strengthening exercise program that required only 20 minutes a week. We thought this too good to be true - the 20 minute part - so we decided to investigate this further. After discussing the program with the staff and trying our first workout for free, we decided to give this a try. The first sign of strength improvement for me was that I could carry 50 pound feed bags easier. We have cows and horses and handle these bags all the time. It just seemed like I could handle them better. The second sign of strength improvement came when we were vacationing down in the Keys in August. I could actually pick up a dive tank in each hand and walk to the boat! The year before I had a hard time carrying one cradled like a baby. I thought then that this exercise program was really working. In the fall, the staff ran my weight chart. From May to September I had increased the overall weight that I was lifting, pulling or pushing by 329 pounds. I was truly amazed' But what was even more amazing was when I visited my doctor in November for my annual checkup. My doctor wanted me to have another bone density test as I had had one in November of 2005 and he wanted to compare the two. What he saw was such an improvement in my numbers that he wanted to know what I had been doing. I told him I had started a slow cadence strength training program. He said he had never seen numbers improve that much without the use of drugs. He told me to keep up the very good work! I just wanted to share this with all of you so that you can be proud of the work you do and know that your program works and is changing the lives of people for the better. Here’s to an even better New Year! Sincerely, Brenda Johnson, 51 Bookkeeper |

I am extremely pleased with my results at 20 Minute To Fitness. I enjoy the workouts and am impressed with the protocol and personal care of the trainers. When I started my training sessions I suffered from low back pain which was a direct result of the work that I do in my business. Now, I have no back pain -none at all!!! If you have ever suffered from back pain, you know what it means to be free from that pain. In addition, like most people today, I have a hectic work schedule, one that can change on a moment’s notice. The 20 Minutes to Fitness Team works with me to make sure that I get my workout every week. Mike Sloan Sales |

At 20MTF the program provides focus because of the personal trainer. Angela knows my limitations, but is also able to motivate me to achieve real results, all in a 20-minute weekly work out. Not having to change into "gym clothes", and then get dressed again afterward, means that I get a great workout and then move on to my day feeling fresh and invigorated. Because of my participation at 20 MTF and a good nutritional program, I am three dress sizes smaller, and to date, I have lost 45 pounds; not bad for 6 months! The workouts have enabled me to maintain my weight loss, while building my muscle strength. Wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts this summer is something I have not done in years. This program fulfilled my needs on many levels, as prior injuries had made exercising difficult, but the personal interest of everyone at your facility make it possible for me to build my strength quickly and safely. Thanks again for helping me achieve my goals. Jan Hatfield Marketing |
